BIOGRAPHY:

Frank Paulin

Born in Pittsburgh, Paulin (1926- ) was raised in New York and Chicago. His photojournalistic talents developed during World War II when he joined the Army and spent two years in the Signal Corps in Europe. After the war, Paulin enrolled at the Institute of Design in Chicago, where Harry Callahan and Laszlo Maholy-Nagy were members of the faculty. After an education that would make any photographer envious, Paulin went on to be a successful exhibition photographer, becoming the first single artist to hold an exhibit at Limelight—the only gallery for art photography in New York at the time. Paulin’s timeless work is sought by collectors for his talent capturing fleeting human moments of both humor and poetry.
